Wisconsin DQ puts up ‘politically incorrect’ sign, owner doesn’t back down

For four years, a Dairy Queen sign stood without issue until a recent complaint sparked controversy. Franchisee Kevin Scheunemann explained that a student from Oregon posted a photo of the sign on Dairy Queen’s Facebook page, leading to a flurry of comments. Most supported Scheunemann’s stance.

In response, Dairy Queen issued a statement distancing itself from the sign’s message, emphasizing that it represents the views of the independent owner. They reaffirmed their commitment to treating all customers with dignity and respect.

Despite the backlash, Scheunemann has no plans to remove the sign, noting that the store has become a tourist attraction. The decision to display the sign arose after a customer complained about Christian music playing inside the store.
