Tragedy in the Osbourne family

The renowned heavy metal icon, Ozzy Osbourne, reunited with his Black Sabbath companions earlier this month for an incredible performance at Villa Park.

Heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne has sadly left us, only weeks after being back on stage with his fellow Black Sabbath band members, delighting fans with a massive farewell concert.

In a deeply heartfelt statement, his family expressed: “We are unable to fully convey the depth of our sorrow as we announce that our dear Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning, surrounded by his loving family.”

Just a few weeks ago, from his throne on stage at Villa Park, Ozzy heartwarmingly addressed his fans: “You can’t imagine how I feel – thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

This memorable concert featured performances by some of his favorite bands, such as Metallica and Guns N’ Roses, marking the grand finale for the 76-year-old star.

Following Ozzy’s passing, the band Metallica shared a poignant photograph of them with Ozzy on X, accompanied by a broken heart emoji, symbolizing their loss.

Ozzy, originally named John Michael Osbourne, was a trailblazer in the heavy metal genre with Black Sabbath. He achieved tremendous solo success with hits like Iron Man, Paranoid, War Pigs, Crazy Train, and Changes.

Additionally, Ozzy gained widespread fame from the early 2000s MTV reality show, The Osbournes, which offered a glimpse into his life in Los Angeles with his wife Sharon and two of their children, Kelly and Jack.

Ozzy’s rock star exploits are legendary, particularly the anecdote about the time he bit the head off a bat on stage during a performance.

Ozzy had been battling Parkinson’s disease and other health issues in recent years, including injury complications from a fall in 2019.

Despite having to cancel several tours, Ozzy made a surprise appearance on stage in Birmingham during the Commonwealth Games in 2022. Earlier this year, his wife Sharon announced the Villa Park event, stating Ozzy was determined to give his fans the “perfect farewell.”

Over his illustrious career, Ozzy was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame and the US Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame twice, both with Black Sabbath and as a solo artist.

He also received other impressive accolades, including a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and Birmingham’s Broad Street, an Ivor Novello award, and five Grammy wins from a dozen nominations. Noteworthy honors like NME’s Godlike Genius award and Classic Rock’s Living Legend prize were also bestowed upon him.

Ozzy leaves behind his beloved wife Sharon, his children Aimee, Kelly, and Jack, along with his two older children, Jessica and Louis, from his marriage to Thelma Riley, as well as grandchildren who will all cherish his memory.
