Jennifer Garner really cares about living a healthy and eco-friendly life, so she turned her family’s farm into a great place for growing organic fruits and vegetables.
The farm located in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, has been part of Garner’s family since the 1930s. Her grandparents bought the 20-acre land for just $700 during the tough times of the Great Depression.
The story of the farm begins with Garner’s grandparents, Harvey Newton and Violet Margaret Sayre English. They had to deal with tough financial times, but they managed to buy the land in 1936 by using a bonus that a World War I veteran received.
The land started off empty except for a small two-bedroom farmhouse. It took a lot of talking and bargaining, but it finally sold for $20. Even though it didn’t have any modern conveniences in the 1930s, the farm had really good soil that helped the family grow different crops and raise animals.
Over the years, Jennifer Garner’s family farm changed hands within the family and faced neglect. After her uncle Harvey’s passing in 1962, the farm was sold to her brother James and his wife, Helen. In 2017, Garner purchased the farm, aiming to transform it into an eco-friendly haven.
Garner revitalized the land into a thriving organic farm, now managed by her uncle Robert and his wife Janet. This farm supplies ingredients for “Once Upon A Farm,” Garner’s organic baby food brand, emphasizing fresh, locally sourced produce.
The farm not only serves as a successful business but also embodies family values and memories. Garner, drawing from her childhood on a farm, shares her sustainable lifestyle on Instagram, showcasing life on the farm, from holiday parties with cows to berry picking.
For Garner, the farm is a way to instill a strong work ethic and a love for country life in her children, symbolizing her family’s resilience and commitment to sustainable living.
