During the filming of “Rocky IV,” Sylvester Stallone faced a life-threatening incident involving Dolph Lundgren. Stallone shared his experience in a documentary on his YouTube channel, recalling how Lundgren’s powerful blows left him initially unfazed but later in pain. He likened the sensation to a chest impact in a car crash. Stallone’s blood pressure skyrocketed to 260, leading to his hospitalization at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California. Despite the severity of the situation, Stallone, transported on a “low altitude flight,” recovered in the intensive care unit for four days. Determined to continue, Stallone even returned to finish filming after his recovery. The iconic scene of Lundgren’s chest hit made it into the movie, embodying Stallone’s commitment to authenticity. “Rocky IV” follows Rocky Balboa as he confronts Ivan Drago after Drago’s fatal match with Rocky’s friend Apollo Creed, continuing the gripping saga of the “Rocky” franchise.
