Mom of rare twins with Down syndrome shows how beautiful they are in spite of critics

Even though the likelihood of having twins has increased by 72% from 1980 to 2018, twin pregnancies remain rare, occurring in about 33 out of every 1,000 births. The chances of having identical twins are even slimmer, with only three to four in every 1,000 babies being identical twins.

Savannah Combs, a 23-year-old from Middleburg, Florida, was thrilled to learn she was expecting twins. However, she later discovered that both of her twins had Down syndrome, an extremely rare condition. Despite the challenging news and the potential judgment from others, Savannah and her husband, Justin Ackerman, embraced their daughters, Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman, who were born prematurely at 29 weeks on May 12, 2021.

The twins, who are identical mono di twins, have become a source of joy and inspiration. Savannah shares their journey on TikTok, celebrating their milestones and proving that, despite their rare condition, they are just like any other children. Savannah’s positive outlook and love for her daughters shine through, even in the face of hurtful comments online. She responded to criticism with grace, affirming that her daughters are a blessing and that she is grateful to be their mother.
