Melania Trump and her husband Donald appeared at an event celebrating 50 years of the Navy on Sunday. While many were annoyned with the president arriving to do his speech an hour late, when the first laduy began her speech, people had different opinions. While many praised Melania’s speech, social media erupted with taunts towards Melania, and her awkward greeting.
Donald and Melania Trump appeared at an event at the Naval Station Norfolk in Norfolk, Virgina on Sunday, celebrated 250 years of the Navy. The couple were late to the event as Donald Trump’s speech began more than hour later than planned for.
Both Melania and her hsuband arrived wearing their what now only could be called trademark cap. Donald wore his usual red MAGA hat, while Melania, little more rarely, woere a white cap but wihth the same USA logo as Donald’s.
Meanwhile, the First Lady of the United States rocked somehwat of a ‘Top Gun’ style with a brown bomber jacket, but as she began her speech, people had some opinions as to how she greeted the navy audience members.
“Hooyah, Navy,” Melania said, but the respons was likely not what she had expected. While applause, applause followed, shortly after an awkward pause appeared in the crowd.
While some praised Melania Trump for her greeting, others weren’t convinced. On social media, many users made their opinions clear on Melania’s “Hooyah.”
“Please make it stop,” one X user wrote.

“Cringe,” another added,” while a third asked, “Good lord. Did her comms team tell her to say this to be relatable?”
A fourth mocked the first lady by sqaing, “Now she speaks Navy. She can add it to her list of languages,” refering to the claims Melania can speak six languages including French and Italian, but rarely or never have used them in public.
Another socal media user stated, “We are a goddamned sitcom.”
“Our country is being invaded by foreigners! ICE, we got one, quick!” one wrote.
After greeting sailors with a “hooyah,” Melania continued her speech by saying it was an honor to be there.
“Generations of sailors have kept America free because of your presence on the high seas,” she said. “Your strength, bravery and sacrifice inspires us all.”
