Elon Musk, the owner of the social media network X, formerly known as Twitter, abruptly canceled “The Don Lemon Show” after an interview was recorded with the former CNN anchor for its yet-to-be-aired first episode.
Don Lemon, the former CNN anchor, had conducted an interview with Elon Musk for the inaugural episode of “The Don Lemon Show.” However, Musk decided to cancel the show on X following this interview.
Elon Musk often proclaims himself a “free speech absolutist” and owns X. The company announced the cancellation of Lemon’s show without providing specific reasons but emphasized its commitment to free speech on the platform.
In response to the cancellation, Don Lemon expressed his disappointment and announced that he would air his interview with Elon Musk on YouTube and via podcast. Lemon hinted at tension during the interview but emphasized the importance of open dialogue.
“My questions were respectful and wide ranging, covering everything from SpaceX to the presidential election, we had a good conversation.” Lemon stated after the interview “Clearly he felt differently. His commitment to a global town square where all questions can be asked and all ideas can be shared seems not to include questions of him from people like me.”
