Her commitment to justice and her invaluable contributions to the legal system will forever be remembered. President Ronald Reagan appointed her to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey in 1983, and later, President Bill Clinton appointed her to the Court of Appeals in 1999.

In her later years, Maryanne faced challenges with poise and resilience. She underwent an investigation into alleged fraudulent tax and financial transactions involving her father and siblings. Although the investigation reached no conclusive results, it prompted Maryanne to retire gracefully from her position in 2019.
