Buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy

Ingredients:

2 cups of self-rising flour
About a cup of buttermilk
1/3 cup of shortening
A pinch of salt
Directions:

In a mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour, shortening, and a pinch of salt.
Pour in about a cup of buttermilk.
Mix the ingredients until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix; you want the dough to be just combined.
On a floured surface, turn out the dough.
Gently pat or roll the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness.
Using a round biscuit cutter or a glass, cut out the biscuits.
Place the biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet.
Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
Bake the biscuits for about 10 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
Once out of the oven, brush the biscuits with melted butter for extra flavor and a beautiful shine.
Enjoy your delicious homemade buttermilk biscuits while they’re still warm.
