Divorces can be complicated, especially when splitting assets is involved. Kelly Clarkson is all too familiar with this. Following her split from her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, she encountered financial difficulties. However, there is now positive news.
2013 saw the marriage of Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock, who later got divorced in 2021. The singer and her ex-husband have been embroiled in a legal dispute ever since. She recently made a settlement at last.
In addition, Blackstock managed Clarkson while they were married and collected a commission from her. It has now come to light that he embezzled a substantial sum of money from her. After looking into the situation, a labor commissioner from California concluded that Blackstock had overcharged her for commissions. As a result, he has been directed to reimburse the Grammy winner for around $2,641,374.
Blackstock, though, is finding it difficult to accept this choice. He’s getting ready to appeal the court’s decision.
Legal filings claim that Blackstock arranged jobs and made transactions for his ex-wife, among other dubious activities. Projects like “The Voice,” Norwegian Cruise Lines, Wayfair, and the Billboard Music Awards were among the deals that were made. According to the labor commissioner, managers shouldn’t be in charge of finding jobs for their clients; talent agents should. There may be an exception, but this was not one of them.
Following the court’s decision, Blackstock is now owed $1,983,155.70 by Kelly Clarkson for her time on “The Voice,” $208,125 by Norwegian Cruise Lines for her labor, $450,000 by Wayfair, and $93.30 for her three times as host of the Billboard Music Awards.
Kelly also requested payment for her work on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” but the court decided in Blackstock’s favor in that case.
In March 2022, Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock’s divorce was officially formalized. In addition, ownership of their combined Montana property and custody of their two children were at issue during the court battle. Kelly spent some time in New York City following her divorce, concentrating on starting over.
Her album “Chemistry,” which she released, was inspired by her personal experiences. Despite the difficulties encountered during the COVID-19 epidemic, Kelly stated that she was happy to be single at the moment and had no immediate intentions to begin dating.
It can be difficult to start over, particularly if you thought you would be with someone for the rest of your life but ended up divorcing them. We hope Kelly Clarkson finds success in all of her future pursuits. Her supporters are celebrating this favorable verdict, as she has had several court struggles in the recent past.
