Mark Wahlberg’s Confrontation With DJ At Daughter’s School Dance Has Parents Applauding

Have you ever seen a bumper sticker on the back of someone’s car that says something like “I used to be cool”? We have – in the car line at school. This bumper sticker speaks deeply to us as parents.

Even if you were the coolest person on the planet once upon a time, chances are, your children won’t think you’re cool. Even if you make an effort to keep up with the latest trends and stay relevant, chances are, your children still won’t think you’re cool. Even if you’re Mark Wahlberg, chances are, your children still won’t think you’re cool.

Two years ago, Wahlberg went on “The Ellen Show” to talk about a movie he was working on called “Spencer Confidential,” but as often happened on Ellen DeGeneres’s show, the conversation turned to family life.

DeGeneres brought up the topic of a school dance that Wahlberg attended with his daughter. There were two very notable things that happened during that dance. First, his daughter refused to dance with him. While she was okay with hanging out with him and talking to him at the dance, she absolutely did not want to dance with him. She was afraid he would embarrass her. She did not in any way think he was cool or that dancing with him would be cool.

Since his daughter didn’t dance with him at the dance, the two of them spent quite a bit of time sitting on the edge of the stage together where they were fairly close to the DJ. During that time, Wahlberg noticed something he didn’t like about the music the DJ was playing, and he confronted the DJ about it. Wahlberg failed to mention if his confrontation with the DJ embarrassed his daughter, but he didn’t back down until the DJ understood he was serious.

Watch the video below to hear what Wahlberg didn’t like about the music the DJ was playing and to hear the DJ’s reaction to the confrontation.

Many people commented on this video that they are very happy with Wahlberg’s response to the music the DJ was playing at the school dance. For example, one comment reads, “I love that he had an issue with the DJ playing inappropriate music at his daughter’s dance. He’s a great father.”

If you have kids, do you think they think you’ll cool? Does it surprise you that Wahlberg’s daughter refused to dance with him at a school dance?

I SLEPT UNDER A BRIDGE — BUT MY DOG KEPT ME WARM, ALIVE, AND HUMAN People think rock bottom is when you lose your home, your job, or your family. They’re wrong. For me, it was the day I realized no one had said my name in two weeks. Not once. Except for him—Bixby. My dog. He didn’t speak it, of course, but every morning he’d look at me with those big, patient eyes, tail wagging slow and steady, like I was still worth something. Like I was still his person. We’d already been through hell together—eviction, shelters turning us away because of “no pets,” nights curled up under an old tarp while the wind cut through us. And still, he never strayed. Never stopped pressing himself against me in the cold like he could keep the world away just by staying close. Once, after two days without food, someone tossed a sausage biscuit from a car window. I split it right down the middle, but Bixby just nudged his half toward me with his nose. His eyes said, You first. I can wait. That moment cracked something in me. I started carrying a cardboard sign—not to beg, but to tell people who we were. Because strangers saw the dirt, the frayed hoodie, the unshaven face. They didn’t see him. They didn’t see how he kept me alive in more ways than one. And then last week—just as I was packing up to move spots—a woman in scrubs stopped in front of us. She looked right at me, right at Bixby… and said five words that changed everything. (continue reading in the 1st comment)
