101-year-old woman who still works 6 days a week shares four key things she does every day

To get old is a part of life. Many might be longing for retirement, envisioning themselves not in an office but perhaps at the beach with a drink in their hand. But quitting work isn’t for everyone, just ask 101-year-old Ann Angeletti in New Jersey. She still works six days a week – and has shared the four key things she does every day to stay alert.

Ann Angeletti has been running her jewelry store, Curiosity Jewelers, in Cresskill, New Jersey, since 1964 and has no plan on stopping. The store is open five days a week,Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:30am to 5pm.

But in Angeletti’s case, her work week doesn’t stop there. On the sixth day, she travels to the diamond district in New York City, which is about a 30-minute drive away.

“If I retire, I would die. So I cannot stay home,” Ann told ABC 7.

Working has always been a cornerstone in Ann Angeletti’s life. As a child, she left school to help out at her family’s grocery store in Brooklyn. Later, as her husband left to fight in World War II, Ann worked at a Navy Yard and eventually became a waitress.

But in 1964, her career path took quite a turn. She told ABC 7 that one day, she drove by the location where her jewelry store now sits and asked the owner about the rent. It was $85 a month, and since then, she has never looked back.

Now, more than 60 years later, Ann’s store is very much still in business. Her daughter and granddaughter are helping her out, and her passion and dedication to providing excellent service to customers have never faded.

As Ann described, her career keeps her alive. The 101-year-old woman shared a secret to how she can be so active and sharp at her age. For her, it’s all about self-care.

“You must get up, you must shower, you must eat, you must take care of yourself. You must exercise. If you don’t like what you’re doing, then change;” Ann Angeletti explained.

According to Newsweek, there are about 2,646 people age 100 or older in New Jersey.
